Why were Melina and Maryse moved during the WWE draft this year?
I'm just wondering because as far as I can remember that during the draft all the champions are exempt from being picked by anybrand. And Melina is women's champion and Maryse is divas champion?
As I correct about this or was something changed this year by WWE to allow champions but be picked during the draft?
No, it's an easy mistake to make. Any one from any brand can be drafted. Champions, ring announcers, commentators ... even General Managers.
In 2004, Paul Heyman, then-GM of SmackDown!, was drafted to Raw, who was then overseen by Eric Bischoff.
In 2005, John Cena was drafted to Raw during his first WWE Championship reign, while Batista took the World Heavyweight Championship with him to SmackDown!.
2008 saw champions and commentators switch, when Triple H took the WWE Championship from Raw to SmackDown!, and Matt Hardy was drafted from SmackDown! to ECW as United States Champion. Good ol' J.R. left Raw, and switched announce tables with SmackDown!'s Michael Cole.
This year saw almost every championship switched around. The Intercontinental and Women's Championships finally left Raw, switching with SmackDown!'s United States and Divas titles.
