UFC - Most Popular MMA Competition
We have all witnessed that martial arts has indeed come a long way over the years. Several years ago, Bruce Lee helped the martial arts gain more popularity, when he created his style of Jeet Kune Do. He participated in several movies, and the world saw his swiftness and poise. From then on, movies have been a trendy means to demonstrate martial arts skills.
In the early 1990s, something known as the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) arrived with a bang to take things one step further. Even though there have been other competitions just like the UFC, none of them had the style and dedication that UFC had. When it first began, the UFC had mixed martial arts bouts, pairing fighters of different disciplines.
The mixed pairing lead to exciting battles with variable results. In its first installment, Royce Gracie from Brazil was crowned champion. He introduced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the UFC by applying those techniques in the course of the fights. Following the first UFC tournament, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was instantaneously considered as the greatest martial art. Royce weighed under 200 pounds, and he absolutely dominated people practically 3 times his size.
Gracie lifted the winners trophy in UFC 2 and 4 as well. He completely dominated his opponents and people across the world took notice. In UFC 3, he didn't lose, although he ran into a very tough fighter who nearly beat him. Gracie and Ken Shamrock fought out of their skins in a brilliant UFC 5 match up that resulted in a draw.
There have been several good fighters who have contested in the UFC, but none have had the same impact as Royce Gracie. Fighters like Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn, Oleg Taktarov, Matt Hughes, and Matt Sylivia have also done exceedingly well. Matt Hughes, who fights in the welterweight class, is considered one of the best fighters in the world.
The UFC has played a key role when it comes to mixed martial arts. When it all began, there were no rules and no judges, only one on one fights until someone either tapped out, got knocked out, or the ref threw in the towel. The tournament style in UFC required fighters to win 3 fights to claim the championship.
Through the years, the UFC format changed quite a bit. The UFC would start with judges after a few years, and the tournament style was removed. The UFC fans rejoiced as the fights were eventually changed to one on one bouts. While the fights didn't have time limits at first, they do now. Title fights have five 5 minute rounds, while non title fights have three 5 minute rounds.
If a fight goes to the judges, the judges decide the winner. Judges are there do determine the winner if there is no knockout or submission. Normally, three judges preside over the fights, but this number may change as the UFC deems fit. The ref is there to protect the fighters. He can stop a fight if a fighter is unable to defend himself.
The UFC has come a long way, and is now one of the most widely liked sports in the world.

Man in a mouse suit epic fail moron Ken Shamrock was in the UFC before pro wrestling so he has been in a real fight and earn the name worlds most dangerous man name, and i think he was awesome and one of the most underrated wrestlers during the attitude era, he did some epic stuff but nobody remembers and thats sad.
BQ: Nah he has said in interveiws the scedule is to large for him and rather have small scedules which he always wanted to have a match with kurt angle so i wouldnt be surprised if he ever showed in tna for that match, but i still say its possible but nothing big prob just a 6 months come back for a final match is all i ever see him doing in wwe.
